The platform's core fundraising features are provided to charity members at no cost, with operating costs covered by an optional donor contribution applied on an opt-out basis at checkout. Payments are processed through Stripe, which each charity connects under its own account, and Grassrootz states it does not mark up card-processing fees, leaving charities to negotiate their own Stripe rates. Larger mass-participation events and paid ticket sales carry their own tiered platform charges.

Grassrootz's standout strength is its partnerships with major endurance events, including City2Surf and the Sydney, Auckland, Brisbane, and Melbourne marathons, which channel large peer-to-peer fundraising communities onto the platform. The trade-off is that exact fee tiers are not published on its public pages, so charities must request specifics, and the bring-your-own-Stripe model means each organisation manages its own payment relationship. For Australian and New Zealand charities running event-based campaigns these conditions are routine; smaller organisations wanting all-in published pricing may find them less convenient.
