1. Who is responsible for your data
Givingplatforms.com is operated by WhyDonate B.V., a company registered in the Netherlands, which acts as the data controller for personal data processed through this site under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What we collect
Givingplatforms is an editorial site and does not require an account to read it. We process only limited data:
- Technical/server data — such as IP address, user agent, and request logs, processed to deliver and secure the site.
- Privacy-preserving analytics — aggregate usage metrics to understand which content is useful. We aim to use analytics that do not build advertising profiles.
We do not collect donor or payment data on this site — donations happen on the third-party platforms we review, under their own privacy policies.
3. Purposes and legal basis
We process technical data on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and any non-essential analytics or cookies only where permitted, with consent where required.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use only the cookies/storage necessary to run the site and, where applicable, privacy-preserving analytics. Where consent is required for non-essential cookies, we ask for it before they are set.
5. Processors and third parties
We rely on infrastructure providers acting as processors (for example, our hosting/CDN provider) and may embed third-party signals such as Trustpilot ratings. These third parties process data under their own terms. We do not sell personal data.
6. International transfers
Where data is processed outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses) as required by the GDPR.
7. Retention
We keep technical logs only as long as needed for security and operational purposes, and aggregate analytics for as long as it remains useful, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability where applicable. To exercise these rights, contact WhyDonate B.V. using the details it publishes.
9. Complaints
If you believe your data has been handled improperly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version. For privacy questions, contact WhyDonate B.V. via its published contact details.
